Today We Turn 2!

Today we turn 2 and what a year it has been! We have achieved so much and we can’t thank you enough for all of your love and support. Cielo would be nothing without our artisan partners, our dedicated customers and amazing supporters. Thank you!

As for the past year, Cielo has continued to grow little by little and we couldn’t be more proud. We are so happy to now be working with 2 new women’s weaving and embroidery groups; the Xochipilli Artisan Group from Puebla and La Flor De Xochistlahuaca from Guerrero.

cielo collective xochipilli artisan groupThis year we have created 16 collections with our artisan partners, with 4 to be released in the coming months. If you bought a Cielo piece over the past year, you have made this possible and have helped provide work to 7 different artisan groups.

As many of you know each year we donate 5% of our profits to Mision Mexico and this year’s donation was double last years total! What an achievement! Thank you to our beautiful customers, for making this possible.

This year we also ticked off another goal! We found our first stockist! The lovely ladies at The Travelling Kimono stock our Jalieza Diamond Clutches in their Noosa store. This is a partnership that we are so proud of.

Now our focus is back on Cielo and we can’t wait to bring you more designs from our incredibly skilled artisan partners throughout Mexico and Guatemala.

This week on the 19th of March we celebrated Dia del Artesano or Day of the Artisans. A day to celebrate and honour the craftsmanship of artisans worldwide. We work with so many talented artisans throughout Mexico and Guatemala. As many of you know, we mainly partner with weaving or embroidery cooperatives and this week I was asking myself, do our customers know what a cooperative is? Now is the perfect time to share.

At Cielo, every one of our designs was made by hand and we think that it is so important to share where they were made, why they were made and who they were made by. We want every customer to have an understanding of where our designs come from, to realise their value and as a result cherish our pieces forever. This is the beauty of slow fashion. You can develop appreciation for the makers and form a connection with that person through their creations.
