A Week for Consideration
After spending a few days relaxing and celebrating our engagement, it was time to get back to work! Our second last week in San Cristobal was spent completing the more mundane but essential tasks that go behind Cielo. We spent countless hours emailing and calling fed-ex to sort out issues with Cielo’s packages.
What a Week!
What a week it has been! We had so many incredible things happen that it truly feels like a dream…
Up in the Highlands of Chiapas
We arrived in San Cristobal de las Casas last Friday morning at the break of dawn after a 12 hour long bus ride through the mountain range shared by Oaxaca and Chiapas. I clutched on to my stomach for a couple of hours as the full size bus winded up and down, dodging oncoming traffic along the narrow single lane road that overlooked death defying cliff faces.
Adios Oaxaca
Yesterday we said goodbye to Oaxaca, and it wasn't easy! The city and its people stole our hearts and we pledged to return. Our month there was beyond anything we expected, Skye and I both believe that spending a substantial amount of time in a place gives you the real experience
Gaining Momentum
Week three in Oaxaca has certainly been a busy one. From travelling to artisan villages, finalising orders to staying up late at night sewing labels onto pieces and preparing them for shipment, we are gaining momentum. It is easy to get caught up in the madness but amongst the busy week, we also took time to slow down, listen and learn.
Making Friends from Strangers
Our second week in Oaxaca is coming to an end and what a mix bag of emotions it has been. It seriously feels like we’ve been here for months. When we decided to come to Oaxaca we had a starting point and we had a goal but not that much in between, and to fill in that ‘in between’ has been both challenging and reassuring.
