The Café Ikat blanket was beautifully handwoven and naturally dyed, while the soft browns remind us of Guatemala’s aromatic coffee beans. The blanket’s lightweight feel is ideal to throw over your bed during summer nights or layer in the cooler months.
It truly has endless uses. Cosy up with it on the couch, wrap it around you during windy surf checks, use it as a picnic rug or create a splash of colour in your bedroom.
The Café Ikat blanket was naturally dyed using pits and skins of avocados. Specific areas of the thread were tied before dyeing to create a stunning tie-dyed ikat effect. The threads were then untied and hand woven on a backstrap loom. The women then hand wove five panels and sewed them together using a thick stitching technique. Tassels on two ends were hand knotted to complete the work of art. This process can take up to a week for one blanket.
